< < < <1o/a> < <2o/a>The SGI Visual Workstaion>s (models 320 and 540) are based around < <3o/a>the Cobalt, Lithium, and Arsenic ASICs. The Cobalt ASIC is the < <4o/a>main system ASIC which interfaces the 1-4 IA32 cpus, the memory < <5o/a>system, and the I/O system in the Lithium ASIC. The Cobalt ASIC < <6o/a>also contains the 3D gfx rendering engine which renders to main < <7o/a>system memory -- part of which is used as the fram= buffer which < <8o/a>is DMA'ed to a video connector using the Arsenic ASIC. A PIIX4 < <9o/a>chip and NS87307 are used to provide legacy device support (IDE, < 0serial, floppy, and parallel). < 11o/a> < 12o/a>The Visual Workstaion> chipset largely conforms to the PC architecture < 13o/a>with som= notable excepion>s such as interrupt handling. < 14o/a>LXR communityo/a>, this experimental verson> by email@example.com/a>.
